TUSCALOOSA – Barry Monroe Colburn, age 62, of Tuscaloosa, died Friday, April 29, 2016 in Tuscaloosa. Services will be 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at Sunset Funeral Home with Dr. Scott Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be at 12:00 noon at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Colburn and grandparents, J.R. “Bob” and Myrtie Colburn and O.R. and Annie Edmonds.
Survivors include his mother, Mattie Lou Colburn; brother, Ronnie Colburn; daughters, Amy Colburn Noland (Jason), Jill Colburn and Rebecca Colburn Sewell (Josh); grandchildren, Abbey, Katie and Molly Noland, and Alexis, Andi and Harper Sewell; nephew, Josh Colburn; nieces, Cheryl Colburn Yarbrough (Scott) and Sara Beth Colburn Kearney (Sean); and great nieces, Bayley and Addison Yarbrough; and best friend, Olivia Kendrick.
Barry was born April 6, 1954 in Tuscaloosa. He graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School in 1972.
He was employed by Hunt Refining Company for over 26 years, and was part of a team that traveled to North Yemen in 1986 to work in a start-up refinery. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Barry was a kind and generous friend to many people.
Pallbearers will be Jason Noland, Josh Sewell, Josh Colburn, Scott Yarbrough, Sean Kearney, Tommy Case and Joe Marler.
