Andrew Jackson Rigsby, 75, passed away suddenly on Aug. 24, 2022. He was the oldest child of Elizabeth and Lester Rigsby . He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Alan Rigsby (Rebeca). He is survived by his sister Constance Dawson (James) and his brother Myron Rigsby (Carolyn Holdsworth). Jack graduated from high school in 1965 and earned a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Alabama.
He began his career at Westinghouse in Pittsburg but returned to Alabama to work for Alabama Power Company at various locations in the state. He then earned a second bachelor’s degree in computer science and returned to Alabama Power. Later he worked at Buffalo Rock in Birmingham. During his last years of work, he made caring for his aging parents a priority.
After retiring in 2014 Jack returned to Highway 69 in Northport. He thoroughly enjoyed having time to read and study the Bible, surf the internet as much as he wanted, and pursue his interest in amateur radio in the Tuscaloosa Amateur Radio Club. UJ (Uncle Jack) loved being with family on holidays and celebrating the milestones of his nieces and nephews from Arkansas to Mississippi to Virginia to Boston and even to Auburn. Eating out was high on his list of favorite things to do.
Jack was quick to help a neighbor or friend and visit friends and relatives. He was a faithful member of the church family of Grace Baptist Church and strived to be a good Christian.
Visitation will begin at 11:30 Monday, Aug, 29, at Sunset Memorial Chapel. The funeral service begins at 1:00. Burial will follow at Piney Woods Cemetery, Highway 69, Northport.
