COKER - Allen L. Shelton, age 81, of Coker, Ala., passed away January 16, 2020 at Forest Manor Nursing Home. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday, January 20, 2020, at Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Allen Lee Shelton was born in Chapel Hill Virginia on January 26, 1938 and passed away to his heavenly home on January 16, 2020.
He was preceded in death by his wife Willow, daughter Penny Deann and his parents James and Mary Ellen Shelton. He had and older brother Billy, three sisters Margaret, Jane and Kate, along with two half-brothers Charlie and Danny.
He was married to Lois Elaine in 1958 and had three children Penny Deann, Sherry Lynn and Allen Reid Shelton.
He served twenty years in the United States Air Force and his last four years he was detailed to Air Force One. He became a flight instructor after retiring from the United States Air Force.
After relocating to Alabama in 1980, he worked for Jim Walter mine #7 for twenty years.
In 1989 he married Willow Hannah and after twenty wonderful years she preceded him in death. He has counted each and every day on his calendar looking forward to the day they would be reunited again. May they both be eternally happy together.
He loved going to Waffle House and building remote-control airplanes and old time wagons. I love you daddy, Sherry Lynn.
