Elizabeth Joan Rutherford

September 13, 1929 – May 11, 2018

Betty was a vibrant lady who loved life and lived fully to the age of 88 independently in her own home. After a brief stay at Sunnybrook Hospital, she died in her sleep on May 11.

Born in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1929, Betty was the younger sister to Helen with whom she has shared a life long friendship. She immigrated to Canada to marry Tom Rutherford in 1950. Betty enjoyed a 34 year marriage to Tom who died suddenly of a heart attack in 1982. She remained a widow thereafter.

Betty was beloved by her late husband, Tom. She will be sorely missed by her children – George and Debbie, Brian, Jean and Stephen, Carol and Anita as well as her Grandchildren Kathryn and Kent, Diane and Bryn, Shelagh, Bridget and Adam, Katrina and James, as well as her Great - Grandchildren Jaxson, and Isabella.

Betty was a talented artist, a devoted volunteer and a loyal friend to many.

We will celebrate Betty’s life at Willowdale Presbyterian Church, 38 Ellerslie Avenue, North York on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 11:00 am.
