Born September 7, 1927 in Georgetown British Guiana to Stanley and Eloise Allsopp. Passed away suddenly on September 3, 2016 at Crofton Manor in Vancouver BC Canada at 88 years of age. Bertie was predeceased by his lovng wife of 52 years Vera Megan Allsopp(Shaw) in November of 2014. He is survived by one son Matthew Richard Kwezi Allsopp(Michael Potter) of Windsor Ontario. His eldest brother Philip (O’Donna) Allsopp of Georgetown Guyana, sister-in-law Dr. Jeanette Allsopp. Also by numerous nephews and nieces, cousins, great nephews and nieces, extended family and friends around the World. Bertie is predeceased by his Brothers Richard Allsopp and Howard Allsopp, also by his parents Stanley and Eloise Allsopp. Dr. WHL Allsopp (Bertie) was a man with many accomplishments including but not limited to His many travels and work with the fisheries and International organizations such as WHO, FAO, University of British Columbia and being Honory Consul of Ghana In Vancouver BC. Family and Religion were always a huge part of his life and even after he retired Bertie was always busy doing something somewhere, whether it was working on his memoirs, planting a small garden and looking after his many rose bushes or playing badminton. He was a very distinguished man and always had many tales to tell of his many travels around the world and truly exciting experiences throughout his life. Bertie and his wife Megan moved to North Vancouver in 1973 with their son Matthew and this would be the families forever home and living in so many countries and travelling worldwide. Bertie will be truly missed by all whom loved him. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday September 8, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at First Memorial Funeral Services 1505 Lillooet Road North Vancouver, BC. Viewing prior to service at 9:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, Cancer Society or to Crofton Manor. Celebration of Life to be announced at a later date to ensure friends and family from around the globe may come and pay their respects and say goodbye to this powerful, well spoken, amazing and always generous beloved man.
