Virginia Rose Sanderson

Virginia Rose Sanderson (Ruggles) of North Vancouver BC passed away at the North Shore Hospice on September 4th, 2022 at the age of 87. She was born on April 19th, 1935 in Maple Creek SK. She grew up with her brother Ken and her parents in Piapot SK. This is where she met the love of her life, Ralph, and married him at the age of 18. They had 58 wonderful years together before Ralph’s passing in 2012. The Sanderson side was central to Mom’s life but she very much enjoyed her time spent with the Ruggles side whenever the opportunity presented.

Mom had many lifelong friends and was still making new ones at the time of her passing. Her ability to connect to and with everyone was an admirable trait. Her smile and laugh were infectious and her memory was second to none! She loved a good joke, some not so clean, but that didn’t stop her from sharing! Her kids were the center of her world as were her grandkids and great grandkids. Mom made sure our home was open to all her children’s friends and today, many of them still call her Mom!

She is survived by her 5 children; Harold (Dianne) Sanderson of Quesnel BC, Eldon (Sarina) Sanderson of North Vancouver BC, Valerie (Daryl) Johannesen of North Vancouver BC, Daryl (Dianne) Sanderson of Vernon BC, Maureen (Tony) Richichi of West Kelowna BC; her 11 grandchildren Erin (Harley) & Garth, Eric, Jordy (Siobhan), Justin, Kevin (Nabila) & Daren (Kim), Kaeli & Jenna, Chad (Angela) & Rebecca; her 8 great grandchildren Sarah, Nathan & Hannah, Rhett & Hazel, Callum, Aitana and Lily as well as many nieces and nephews.

Virginia was predeceased by her infant daughter Rosella, her husband Ralph, her parents Leo & Ella Ruggles and her brother Ken.

The family would like to thank the staff at Amica for their kindness to Mom and their help in making her feel at home. Special thanks also to Dr. John Lebrun for his wonderful care of and kindness to mom.

Special thanks to the North Shore Hospice staff for the care and compassion they showed our wonderful Mom in her final days.
