Ann was born in Stranraer, Scotland and emigrated to Canada in 1956. She and Robert married three days after her arrival April 1956. The newlyweds enjoyed living in South Granville and then moved to their first home in Port Moody. After Robert built a few homes in Coquitlam, they returned to Vancouver in 1967 to raise their daughters on W. 27th Avenue. In 1991, Robert and Ann moved to the North Shore to be close to their beloved grandchildren.
Ann was pre-deceased by her loving husband Robert in 2016, She was a devoted wife, mother, and mother-in-law to daughters Linda (Dean), Rhonda, and Louise (John). Her pride and joy were her 4 grandchildren Emily, Jack, Matthew and Graham and two wonderful great-grandchildren, Ella and Miles.
Ann’s life was devoted to family. Home was where her heart was. We were spoiled with her home baking, homemade soup, home-cooked meals and her continuous supply of delicious shortbread cookies. She was always there to chat around the kitchen nook. Ann loved to watch golf and curling. She was very active, first curling in her 40’s and competitively lawn bowled in to her 70’s. In the early years, she and Robert loved to dance and would head to Stanley Park where we played on the playground while they square danced. On the North Shore, she hiked with the West Vancouver Ramblers and enjoyed friendships made through the West Vancouver Seniors’ Centre and lawn bowling club.
In her later years, a move to Amica Edgemont provided a comforting and safe environment. She so enjoyed watching the comings and goings of Edgemont Village from her suite’s window. As dementia began to change her world her final 10 months were spent at Lynn Valley Care Centre.
Ann departed peacefully and with grace and is joined once again with her loving Robert. Rest in peace dear Mom.
We are immensely grateful to the incredible nursing staff of LVCC’s Manor 3 lead by Head Nurse Elizabeth, activity coordinator, Blake, and all the devoted Care-Aides who showed such kindness and respect to Ann and our family.
