We are sad to announce that our mom, Pat, passed away on November 9, 2017 at the age of 89.
Predeceased by her oldest daughter Patty and survived by daughters Debbie (Ken Milne) and
Kathy, son in law Tony Dixon and eight grandchildren;Tyler (Stephanie), Kirsten (Danny), Breanne, Tory,
Alex, Kim, Ben and Madeline and two great grandchildren Hunter and Dryden.
A loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend; she will be missed.
Born in St. Paul, Minnesota to Edna and Jack McCallum, Pat spent her childhood in various places
in western Canada due to her dad’s career with CNR Passenger Service. She was married in
Toronto, had her first daughter Patty and then the family moved to Saskatoon where Debbie and
Kathy were born. In the 60s, Pat moved with her girls to the west
coast (Victoria) where her parents were retiring. She began her career with CNR in Victoria and relocated
to the mainland due to a promotion in 1967. Retired from VIA Rail in 1983, Pat went on to work in a
doctor’s office on the north shore until she retired at 65 in 1993. Pat lived in North Vancouver surrounded
by all her family. Travel was her passion and in retirement Pat saw China, South America, Europe and the Caribbean many times. Crafts were also a pastime and we all have many samples of her stitching and painting that we cherish. Mom loved the holidays, especially
Christmas, and was always game for any event with us. She loved picnics at the beach, parades,
birthday cake parties, fireworks, and any and all of the activities her grandchildren were in.
A celebration of Mom’s life is planned for Sunday December 3 at 2 pm at the Boal Chapel, 1505
Lillooet Road, North Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the BC Heart and Stroke
Foundation in Pat’s name.
We love you and will always miss you, Mom.
