Patricia Anne Gowing

We are saddened to share the loss of Patricia Anne Gowing and comforted that she spent her final days surrounded by her loving family and in kind and gentle care. Predeceased by her loving husband Arthur Frederick (2002), her parents Llewelyn Lodwig Jones (1993) and Jean Isabel Jones (1998), and her brother Richard Henry "Harry" Jones (2018), Pat's loss is mourned by her sister Roberta Shepherd (Andy), brothers Charles Jones (Joan), Howard Jones, sister-in-law Pat Jones, nieces and nephews David Shepherd (Susan), Catherine Widdoes (Brian), Paul Shepherd (Valerie), Melanie Shepherd, Lorna Hightower (Bob), Carolyn English (Wade), Richard Jones (Samantha), Louise Jones (Mike), Megan Perry (Mark), and over 35 great and great-great nieces and nephews. Pat deeply loved her big family and her devotion made each and every one of us feel special and cherished.

Pat was born in Winnipeg, the oldest of 5 children, she grew up in Vancouver, Calgary and Winnipeg and settled in 1963 in Vancouver as the family was relocated by the CPR. Pat and Fred married in 1966 and moved to Toronto and Saskatoon as Fred completed his theological education and then to Victoria B.C. for his ordination into the Anglican Church. They were then posted to Southern Saskatchewan and Alert Bay B.C. where Pat generously gave her love and support to the parishes. Upon returning to Vancouver they settled in Kitsilano where Pat loved to walk her neighbourhood, enjoying the community and the beauty of the ocean and the mountains. Pat was an active member of St. Mark's Anglican Church for many years and will be remembered for her many acts of kindness and her genuine love and concern for all people. She loved animals and was a favourite of all the family pets who knew that she would be the one to go to for a special cuddle and a treat. Pat had a strong faith that sustained her to the end of her life, she went peacefully into Jesus' arms. Dearly loved and treasured, our precious sister, auntie, great and great-great auntie Pat, will be deeply missed by all.

The family wishes to express our gratitude to Dr. Daley and all the staff on the Palliative Care Unit at St. Paul's Hospital and at the Salvation Army Rotary Hospice for their excellent care. A Celebration of Life will be held on November 12, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. George's Anglican Church, 23500 Dewdney Trunk Road, Maple Ridge, BC. In lieu of flowers, gifts to the BC Cancer Foundation are appreciated.
