76.
Born in Princeton, BC, she was the eldest daughter of the late Mary (Holdom) and Robert Neil. Her
family moved to the North Shore in the 1950’s, where she lived for the remainder of her life. Moira is
survived by Nigel, her loving husband and best friend of more than 55 years; sons Christopher (Laura)
South Surrey, BC; Richard (Jeneen) Victoria, BC and beloved granddaughters Emily, Sophie and Elle;
sister Wendy (Alan) West Vancouver, BC, brother Robert (Nora) Abbotsford, BC; several nieces, a
nephew and cousins.
Moira was kind, gentle and patient, with a wonderful sense of humour, and was loved by all who knew
her. Moira enjoyed the simple beauty in nature and her beloved pets, and could often be found
puttering and gardening in her backyard, with her pets in tow.
One of Moira’s favourite places was her family cabin on Hornby Island, BC, built by her parents in the
1960’s. It has been a cherished gathering place for family for many generations.
Throughout the years, Moira also enjoyed traveling to many provinces in Canada with Nigel, and took
a keen interest in learning about the history of many small towns, and tracing her family roots.
For many years, Moira enjoyed her work as an office manager and administrator for a successful
Vancouver business.
Moira supported and encouraged her sons interests, including motor bikes, firecrackers and playing
drums and guitar. She herself could often be discovered at home with her own music selections turned
way up!
Moira will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends.
In honouring her wishes there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place with a burial and
celebration of life at a later date. A sincere thank you is extended to the staff at Inglewood Care Centre,
West Vancouver for their care where Moira spent the last year.
Please send any donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of BC.
