Kirsten (Kris) Meyer passed away peacefully July 2, 2020 at Amica Lions Gate, West Vancouver. Kris was predeceased by her 4 siblings Heinrik, Gite, Else and Klaus. She is survived by her Canadian family Gerry (Noreen), Ashleigh and predeceased by Ron.
Kris was born in Denmark and moved to Canada in 1952. She came on her own to start her Canadian adventure. After a year she joined the Kirkby family where she helped raise three children as a housekeeper/companion and soon became a family member. She joined in the family travels in the sailboat, Buccaneer V, the airstream trailer in Arizona and Mexico, and was excited about honeymooning at age 70 with Don and Sheila, her grandfriends in Denmark. Every summer she revisited Denmark to keep her family ties strong and especially enjoyed seeing the nieces and nephews grow. She always focused on the little ones wherever she was.
During the 80’s and 90’s she was well known in West Vancouver when she worked in Hilde’s and Capers restaurants. After retirement she volunteered for many years in the West Vancouver Senior Center’s Cafeteria and walked many miles on the seawall.
Having a Halloween birthday, she loved to dress up in her favourite witch’s hat, and give candy to children on her special day.
Kris will always be remembered for her bubbling personality, her generous caring spirit and her love of children. She will be greatly missed by many friends, grandfriends and great grandfriends. In lieu of flowers, donation to her favourite charity - BC Cancer Society.
