It is with sadness that the family of Kenneth John Schmidt announce his peaceful passing on July 28, 2020 in North Vancouver at the age of 82. Ken is fondly remembered by Gwen, his wife of 61 years, sons, Mark (Marie), Paul (Isabel), Patrick (Shauna), and grandchildren, Nathan, Cameron, Ryan, Erika, and Zachery. He is also survived by 3 sisters.
Ken was born in Saskatchewan and moved to Vancouver as a newlywed to continue his career in Life Insurance. After a diagnosis of MS at age 36, he retired in 1986. Although physically challenged, his mind remained sharp. He completed his Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Political Science at UBC. He was a thoughtful, kind, and gentle person, willing to provide wise advice in his areas of expertise, to those seeking help. When able, he often volunteered at St. Paul’s Church.
