It is with heavy hearts that we announce the
passing of John (Jack) Oswald, beloved
husband, dad, grandpa, great- grandpa, and
friend. Jack is survived by his wife of 65 years,
Joyce, son Doug (Carol), daughter Barb
(Doug Allen), grandchildren, Ashleigh, Jacob
(Tamara), Travis Oswald and Malcolm, Emily,
Shaylah Allen, and his great-granddaughters,
Abigale and Mackenzie Hnidy. Jack was born
in Vancouver to Cyril and Jean Oswald in
1958, he and Joyce moved into the house that
Jack built in Lynn Valley. Jack was a former
member of the Hollyburn Mountain ski patrol
and a longtime member of the NSWC. He
taught both his children how to snow and
water ski and coached both in hockey. Jack
was a steel Fabricator since starting to work
in the early 1940’s and it was with great joy
that he and Joyce opened their steel
fabrication company, J&J Metal Works in the
1970’s. On a family camping trip in the mid
1960’s Jack and Joyce found the most
beautiful place, Gun Lake, which became
their second home. This was God’s country to
Jack and continues to be that special place
for his family. A celebration of Jack’s life will
be held at Boal Chapel, First Memorial, 1505
Lillooet Road, North Vancouver, BC on
Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. In
