Janet will always be remembered for her kindness, joy in life and love for the outdoors. From the beginning Janet enjoyed being active. By University she had become an avid skier, boater, and tennis player. She graduated UBC in 1967 with a degree in Physical Education majoring in Recreation. This led her to her first career in Recreation where she worked as Community Centre Director at Dunbar Community Centre.
She was a caring and supportive mom who instilled her love of life in the outdoors in her children, through summer camping trips to places such as Hornby Island and 100 Mile House. She believed in helping others and displayed this with her decision to start a second career as a Financial Planner. Her and John enjoyed their time together playing tennis, going on RVing trips, cruising and their property near Ashcroft. Janet was always open to try new things and showed this in retirement when she started painting, took on larger knitting projects and expanded her garden.
Up until the end Janet showed her strength of character, both physically and mentally, as she approached her diagnosis of MSA with both acceptance and determination to continue doing the things she enjoyed.
The family would especially like to thank Susan Pawlowski, Janet’s doctor, the palliative care team from North Vancouver Coastal Health and Janet’s caregivers Naly, Celia and Cora for their loving and attentive care up until the end.
