Born, July 3rd, 1938, Regina, Saskatchewan, Passed away peacefully, Monday, February 27th, 2017 at Kiwanis Care Home in North Vancouver, after a lengthy and courageous battle with Alzheimers disease. Evelyn is pre-deceased by her loving husband, John Alexander Ruddy, and survived by her 2 sons, Jack (Karen), of Whitehorse, Yukon, and Scott (Junko), of Burnaby, BC. Evelyn was ‘Nana’ to Grandsons Jake and Alex and grand-daughter Samantha. Evelyn is also survived by her brother, Clarence Gabriel, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Clarence’s son, Calvin, and daughter, Melissa. Evelyn is also survived by her beloved nieces, Tania Shymko (Sheldon), of Weyburn, Sask, Nicole Kosowan (Dean), of Winnipeg, Man., and Becky Lange (Bart), of Winnipeg, Man. Evelyn was also pre-deceased by her loving sister, Eileen Marchinko, and neice, Tracy Marchinko. Evelyn grew up in the small town of Fort Qu’appelle, just outside Regina, where she had many good friends and extended family. Ev was a teacher for many years and worked at the Red Cross, as well as the Jerhico Hill School for the Deaf. Ev had so many friends in the Widow’s Network, and too many family friends to mention. Her spirit, loyalty and work ethic will be sadly missed. A Celebration of Life will take place at the Pinnacle Hotel in North Vancouver on Sunday, August 20th, at 1pm in the afternoon. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate it if a small donation was made to either the Canadian Red Cross, or the Alzheimer’s Society of North Vancouver.
