Esther Kusuma

Esther Kusuma, age 81, of North Vancouver, BC, passed away on Friday, December 17th, 2021. She leaves behind her husband (Budiono Linaksita), three children (Ian (Wenny) Linaksita, Chris (Felicia) Linaksita, and Michelle (Renny) Husada), and eight grandchildren (Mario, Lucy, Andre, Claudia, Nicole, Cheryl, Jayden, and Kaylee). She loved deeply and was deeply loved in return by all in our big family.

We are heartbroken by Esther’s passing. She will forever be remembered by her warm smile and her ability to bring joy to everyone touched by her generous spirit. She carried so much pride and love in all our family members' accomplishments and had the quick wit to tease and create light-hearted banter that would fill the house with laughter. Along with her easy humour and playfulness, we are grateful for all the care and support she provided as a wife, mother, and grandmother. Esther helped raise every single one of her grandchildren: picking up from school, dropping off at dance and piano lessons, and ensuring all were well (and often over) fed. The depth of love she held for the entire family was palpable and felt by all.

Some of Esther’s favourite things included flowers (cherry blossoms in particular), jigsaw puzzles, collectable trinkets, and desserts of all sorts. After each family dinner, she loved to distribute mandarin oranges around the table, sharing her love through these sweet fruits – this is a tradition we will keep in her memory.

We will miss Esther everyday - she will remain in our hearts, as will her legacy of love and generosity.
