Douglas (Doug, or "Pots" to many) Potter, 72, of North Vancouver, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on Saturday, December 7th, 2024, at Lions Gate Hospital.
He was born to parents Francis and Frederick on June 11, 1952, in North Vancouver, and grew up in Lynn Valley with his three brothers Steve, Glenn, and Greg. He is survived by his loving family, daughter Katelynn and her husband Wesley, stepdaughter Michelle and her husband Steve, granddaughter Alexandra, former wife Sandy, and many cherished friends. He is predeceased by parents Francis and Frederick, twin brother Glenn, and younger brother Greg.
Doug was proudly employed by the North Vancouver City Fire Department from July 1975, until his retirement in July 2003. He was known for his love of sports, specifically hockey and fishing, and enjoyed nothing more than sharing laughs with family and friends.
Doug's family would like to send their most sincere gratitude to the staff at Lions Gate Hospital, specifically the nurses and doctors in the Short Stay Unit (SSU), the ward on 4-East, and the High Acuity Unit (HAU).
A Celebration of Life for Doug will be held at the Capilano Rugby Club (305 Klahanie Court, West Vancouver) on Saturday, January 4th at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that condolences be sent as donations to the BC Professional Fire Fighters' Burn Fund in memory of Doug Potter.
