Mike was born in the Bronx, New York on July 7, 1922, to Carmela and Amabile Gismondi. He was the eldest son of his 3 siblings, Helen, John and Sonny.
Mike served during World War II in the years 1941 through 1945 in the United States Marine Corps. He participated in major “Battle Campaigns” in Europe, including the famous “Battle of the Bulge,” in the country of Belgium and also later in the Pacific Islands. He was a "Proud Fighting Marine."
Upon his return from World War II, Mike met his future wife Mary in the Bronx, NY. Mary became his sweetheart and they were married in 1958. Mike worked with the United States Postal Service as a mail handler until he retired at age 55. In 1977, Mike and his beloved wife Mary and daughter Elaine, moved to Boynton Beach, Florida. They built their retirement home and lived there happily until 2011.
New Years Day 2012, Mike and Mary moved to Stuart, Florida. His wife Mary preceded him in death in 2013. Mike lived the remainder of his life in Stuart Florida. During this time Mike's amazing personality and smile cast a spell over all who cared for and loved him.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Elaine Gismondi, and was predeceased by his wife Mary, his brothers John, Sonny and his sister Helen. Mike also leaves behind several cousins, nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
