Joseph (Joe) Sabatella, 89, passed away on Father’s Day, June 20, 2021. Beloved husband of Lorraine, father of Marc (Kari) Sabatella of Arvada, CO, Michael (Kara) Sabatella of New Bern, NC, Matthew Sabatella of Hollywood, FL, and Lynn Colletti of Lake Park, FL, grandfather of Adam Sabatella, Zachary Colletti and Deliliah Sabatella. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rose, and two brothers, Henry and Robert.
Joe was born in Southington, CT on April 9, 1932 and grew up there, graduating from Lewis High School in 1950. He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1954 with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering, followed by a Master’s degree. A member of the Air Force Reserves while in college, he then served two years of active duty. He began his career at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford, CT, where he met his future wife, Lorraine. They married in 1964. In 1976, he moved his family to Palm Beach County to work in Pratt’s southern facility. He retired in 1992.
Throughout his adult life, Joe was generous with his time and talents in many areas – including St. Paul of the Cross Parish, the Catholic Diocese of Palm Beach, Hands Together for Haitians, Inc., and Palm Beach Cursillo. For hobbies, Joe loved playing Bridge, tennis, golf, building model airplanes, classical music and Broadway musicals.
Joe was a humble, quiet and generous man. He loved his family and was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He will be sorely missed.
Visitation will be on Friday, June 25 from 4 to 7 PM at Howard-Quattlebaum Funeral Home on US I in North Palm Beach, with a prayer service at 6 PM. The funeral will be on Saturday, June 26 at 2 PM at St. Paul of the Cross Church in North Palm Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be considered for Hands Together For Haitians, Inc., 12415 Indian Road, North Palm Beach, FL 33408.
