On Friday, December 28, 2012, Joseph A. Kane of North Palm Beach, Florida, died peacefully at the Jupiter Pavilion Hospice Center in Jupiter, Florida. He was 84 years old at the time of his death.Born on January 29, 1928, Joe was born to Walter and Lenora Kane in Worcester, Massachusetts where he was raised. While attending high school, he became a varsity hockey player with the goal of playing college hockey, but the conclusion of World War II interrupted his plans. He enlisted in the US Army and after a four-year enlistment, graduated from Boston University. During this period of time he continued to play club hockey and was ultimately noticed by the New York Rangers who signed him to a contract. He was then sent to the New York Rovers, the farm team of the New York Rangers where he played in Madison Square Garden.Joe then began a successful career in sales and marketing, ultimately specializing in representing manufacturers to the military commissaries and exchanges around the world. After experience working with suppliers such as General Mills, Proctor & Gamble, Coca Cola and others, he became Vice President of Sales with Overseas Service Corporation in Washington, DC and then West Palm Beach, Florida. Joe was employed with Overseas for over 25 years and during that time it became one of the leading food brokers to the US Government. Joe was an avid golfer and won numerous club championships and member/guest tournaments. He loved to travel and play all the major PGA courses and in his prime he was close to a scratch golfer. Joe was predeceased by his brother, Bill Kane, from Worcester, Massachusetts and his sister Kathleen from Sagamore Beach, Massachusetts as well as his wife of 32 years, Doris D. Kane and his second wife of 10 years, Jean D. Kane.He is survived by his four children, Sandra Singer and her husband Norman of McLean, Virginia, Patricia Pritcher of Santa Monica, California, Ann Marie Simcich of Jupiter, Florida, and Joseph M. Kane of North Palm Beach, Florida. He will also be greatly missed by his five grandchildren, Ryan, Taylor, Jonathan, Chad, Kelly and her husband Peter and his two great granddaughters Katlyn and Hannah, and his dear friend Alberta McCourt. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 4, 2013 from 6-8pm at the Howard Price Funeral Home, 754 US 1, North Palm Beach, Florida. There will be a mass at St. Clare?s Catholic Church, 821 Prosperity Farms Road, North Palm Beach, Florida on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 11:00am. He will be interred at the Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery, Tequesta, Florida, beside his late wife, Doris Kane.
