Resident of North Palm Beach, Florida
Age 79, entered into eternal rest in the arms of his loving wife Cheryl on November 29th, 2015. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Jonica, and his first wife, Paddy. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; four sisters, Anne Dorney, Linda Reardon, Claire Reardon, Paula Studdert; his brother Michael; and 11 nieces and 3 nephews.
John was born in Cork, Ireland on June 2nd, 1936. He graduated from Medical School at University College Cork in 1959, just before his 23rd birthday. He came to the United States in 1965 where he was appointed Asst. Professor of Radiology at Yale New Haven Hospital. John later settled in New Jersey and became Director of Radiology and also Chief of Staff at The Valley Hospital, Ridgewood, New Jersey. He had a lifelong love of sailing and travel, and was an active member for many years at both Stamford Yacht Club and the New York Yacht Club. John will be remembered for his dedication to his family and friends and to his work as a physician. John was particularly known for his warmth and graciousness; he was the consummate gentleman.
Friends are invited to attend a Mass of the Christian Burial at the Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey at 10AM Friday, December 11th, preceded by a viewing at Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home at 9 AM. The mass will be followed by his burial at Christ The King Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Valley Hospital, Ridgewood, New Jersey.
