

Joan was born in Manchester Connecticut on March 4, 1933 to Esther and Otto Neubauer. Joan graduated from Manchester high school in 1951. She met and married Dale Mather in 1953 and together they raised three sons, moving to Florida in 1959. Joan attended cosmetology school and began a career as a hairdresser. She enjoyed water skiing, swimming, boating, camping, hiking, reading, playing cards with friends and greeting card crafting.
Joan is survived by her sons, Allen Mather of Palm City, FL, and Steven Mather and wife Eileen, of Juno Beach, FL. She also leaves behind a brother, Rudy Neubauer and wife Marie, of Hobe Sound, FL, and nieces and nephews. Joan also leaves behind a large step family who loved her very much, including several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A son, Ronald Mather, predeceased her in 1998.
Joan was a very caring and kind person, a wonderful mother and wife, and she will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday January 13th, 2024 at 1:00pm at 13768 Cocoanut Avenue, Juno Beach, FL 33408. Please RSVP to Steven at 561-385-2965.
