Chappy Adams, an owner of Illustrated Properties, one of South Florida's
most respected real estate companies, passed away Thursday, January 10
as a result of an auto accident. Chappy was born in 1964 and raised in
North Palm Beach. He graduated from the Benjamin School and then Boston
College in 1987 after spending part of his Junior year at Lund
University in Sweden.
After graduation, Chappy joined Illustrated Properties, a real estate
company founded by his father Bud Adams, in 1976. The company continued
the legacy of real estate in Palm Beach County started in the 1930's by
Chappy's grandfather. Chappy worked as a commercial leasing agent, and
then moved into residential sales. During his 7 years as a residential
salesperson, Chappy was consistently a multi-million dollar producer.
Chappy transitioned into management at Illustrated Properties,
eventually becoming president in 1995. Together with his father, Bud
Adams, Chappy oversaw Illustrated Properties' 20 offices and 500 agents,
as well as the company's mortgage, title and insurance affiliates.
Chappy went on to earn the Certified Residential Broker designation and
represented the company at the bi-annual meeting of Trendsetters, an
elite group of industry-leading real estate companies from across the
country.
Chappy led the company with charisma and used his talents to blend
technology with the professionalism for which the company was known.
The management team of Illustrated Properties is dedicated to continuing
Chappy's legacy and carrying on the tradition.
He loved life and was beloved by his colleagues, friends, and
co-workers. Chappy had an incredible passion for travel and had been to
more than 80 countries during his lifetime and had a love for boating
and scuba diving. Chappy is a former Board Member of the Northern Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce and current Trustee and a life-long member of the Realtors Association of the Palm Beaches.
Chappy leaves behind his mother Katrina Adams, Bud Adams, his father,
Carol Adams, his step-mother, Diana Adams, his wife, Emma Adams, his
daughter, and Doina Ford, his mother-in-law, all of whom live in Palm
Beach County.
The family will receive friends at Howard-Price Funeral Home, 754 US Highway One, North Palm Beach, Florida 33408 on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00PM on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, 10970 Jack Nicklaus Drive, North Palm Beach, Florida 33408.
