Emily Cecilia Hixon was born in Chicago, the daughter of Czechoslovakian immigrants, the 3rd child of Michael and Cecelia Ardon. She grew up in the Great Depression in a loving family and married Roger Hixon in 1947. Their children, Steve (married to Darlene) and Margie (married to Mike Adams), live in Colorado and Florida. She has six grandchildren: Marion, David and Becky (Hixon clan) and Matthew, Amanda and Sarah (Adams clan) and four great-grandchildren (Emily and Logan Brophy, Stevie and Ellie Taylor).
When she passed away she was 96, just like Roger had been. Sweet, strong, smart and funny, Emily became a devoted Christ-follower later in life. She always beat us at card games, always drove the golf ball right down the middle, was a faithful friend and a champion for her husband and children and grandchildren. She loved loved loved dogs, was a reader and thinker, and always cried when we left. We remember her as loving, wise and wonderful. She lives peacefully and abundantly with Jesus now.
