Born in Union, New Jersey she moved to Palm Beach County, with her husband George, in 1953. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother she always put family before herself. Edith first made her living as the first switchboard operator at Channel 5 before working as a reporter for local newspapers until being hit by a car in 1976. Despite what doctors told her she recovered from her injuries and got back to her life. Besides writing the first draft of the handicapped parking law, she had the only handicapped Girl Scout troop in the Glades Council, tried to save the historic gates to Lake Park, she won several awards for volunteering, and was involved in her son, daughter, and granddaughters schools. She was also an active member of St. George’s Episcopal Church before becoming a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.
During the last few months of her life she was lovingly taken care of by Hospice of Palm Beach County. Edith will join her loving husband of 50 years George Judge, leaving behind a daughter Kathy, a granddaughter Heather and son Gary of Palm Beach Gardens, nieces and nephews and caring friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County Foundation, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33407 or Operation Hope, 300 10th Street, Suite 201, Lake Park, FL 33403.
