David O'Neil Smith (70) of North Palm Beach, passed away peacefully in his home on May 5, 2018. Suffered with Parkinson's Disease since 1997. David O'Neil Smith was born in Buffalo, NY to Clarence E. Smith and Ruth O'Neil on June 4, 1947. He went to Miami Springs High School. He married Diane L. Ruppert on March 20th, 1977 in Miami, FL. He graduated from Florida International University in 1978. He worked as a Financing Leasing Consultant for 42 years. Sargent David O Smith was a United States Army Veteran of Vietnam War in November 1968 with honorable discharge on August 1971 as Sargent David O Smith. He was involved in Gymnastics, Diving, Golf, 16 years as "Coach Dave" for North Palm Beach Softball League, Started the first Surf Club in Miami Springs High School in 1964, and LOVED his Miami Hurricanes Football Team. David O'Neil Smith is survived by his beloved wife, Dee Smith, 5 Children - Jenny (Shawn) Garland, Kerianne (Bobby) Riley, Laurie (Karl) Strand, Duane Smith, and Dana Mahoney. He has 11 Grandchildren - Hannah, Charlotte, Karter, Bryce, Noah, Maverick, Jaxson, Caitlin, Hailey, Kourtney and Tanner. Other family members include: Linda and Nikki Silk, Jamie, Julie and Emma Hinson, Kenny, April, Stephanie, and Shelby Ruppert, several cousins and many more 30 plus years of Village North Palm Beach friends that became family. Funeral services will be held at 6:30PM on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church of North Palm Beach located at 717 Prosperity Farms Road, North Palm Beach, FL 33408 with the Rev. Ron Hillard, officiating. Burial will be at South Florida National Cemetery the following day. Arrangements are by Howard-Quattlebaum Funeral Home of North Palm Beach. Pallbearers will be Duane Smith, Shawn Garland, Bobby Riley and Karl Strand. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be given to Micheal J. Fox Parkinson's Disease Foundation in memory of David O'Neil Smith.
