81, passed on to be with God on Aug 2, 2011, peacefully surrounded by the love of her family and especially of her husband, Jimmy. She was a resident of Palm Beach County since 1972, coming from Dayton, Ohio. Betty graduated from Julienne High School in 1948 in Dayton, and then attended Bowling Green State University. She also served as president of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
She is predeceased by her mother and father, Marie and Lawrence Silver, sister, Debbie Horning, and son Cary Eskew. Betty is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, James E. Eskew Sr., daughter Christa Johnson, sons James Jr., Travis, Michael, Scott, and Sean, as well as her brother Larry Silver and sister Kathy Brookley. She also leaves behind 15 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Betty worked for Stenger’s Ford in Dayton Ohio, but yearned to be closer to her family in South Florida, eventually moving to Palm Beach County in 1972. She worked for Roger Moore Chevrolet, where she made many lasting friendships.
Betty had a strong faith in the Catholic religion and worshiped at the parish of Holy Angels in Dayton, Ohio under Father Pat MacDonald then on to the Cathedral Of St. Ignatius Loyola in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.
Betty (Mama Betty) was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and was happiest surrounded by her family during the holidays. She and her husband traveled the world, creating memories that will last a lifetime. Betty will truly be missed and will leave a void in the hearts of all who knew her. Mama Betty has created a legacy that we all hold dear, and that will continue to grow throughout the coming years and future generations of all our children.

The family will receive friends at the Howard-Price Funeral Home in North Palm Beach on Friday, August 12, 2011 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be held at the Cathedral of St. Ignatius Loyola in Palm Beach Gardens on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 12:30 p.m., with entombment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park, Tequesta, FL.
