Wanda Jean Dean, age 79 of North Little Rock passed away on Friday April 15 2022. She was born to the late James R. Hooks and Elsie Taylor-Hooks on March 28 1943. She grew up in Sylvan Hills and attended Sylvan Hills High School.
Our mother’s favorite role in life was being “Gan” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mother was well known for her turquoise jewelry, vibrant clothing and truly being larger than life. She loved music (especially Elvis) and dancing. If you didn’t want to know the truth, then you probably shouldn’t’ ask our mother. She had the ability to tell it like it is. She truly loved her family and The Lord. Anytime that our mother learned of someone who was ill or having a difficult time, she was sure to put them in her prayers. We will all miss her quick wit and unique outlook on life.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Leah Cox (Evan) of Sherwood and Michelle Tackett (Preston) of Sherwood. granddaughter Brittany Dyer of Sherwood, great-grandchildren Addyson Cunningham of Greenbrier and Jaxon Davis of Sherwood. brother, James A. Hooks of Sherwood and Marie Blasingame of Little Rock and several nieces and nephews, along with a host of friends.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Johnny Harrod and Jack Dean, granddaughter Brooke Dyer, and sister Mada Stivers.
We would like to thank Kindred Hospice for the excellent care that they provided to our mother. And a special thank you to her caregivers Tracy and Denise.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 25, 2022 from 1:00-2:00 pm at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills chapel with service beginning at 2:00 pm. A private burial will be held at Rest Hills Memorial Park
