Roger Lance Martin

Retired Major Roger Lance Martin, passed away on September 24, 2024, at the age of 74. Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, to the late Lenville and Fleta Martin, Roger’s life was a testament to dedication, service, and love.

A graduate of Greenland High School, Roger went on to achieve both his undergraduate and master’s degrees from the University of Arkansas, laying a strong foundation for his future endeavors. His passion for serving his country led him to enlist in the U.S. Air Force, where he devoted 20 years of his life. Starting as a Recruiter, Roger’s journey took him to the role of Hospital Administrator, where he exemplified leadership and compassion. His distinguished service awarded him numerous medals and ribbons, as well as participation in Operation Restore Hope, a reflection of his commitment and bravery.

After retiring from the military, Roger continued his career in healthcare administration, eventually retiring from Practice Plus. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Roger embraced life with enthusiasm. An avid runner, racquetball player, scuba diver, and world traveler, he found enjoyment in physical activity and adventure. A true music enthusiast, Roger enjoyed attending concerts and cherished the moments spent with friends and family. He was also an unwavering supporter of the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Roger leaves behind his devoted wife, Bobbi; their beloved daughter, Shannon; and his cherished grandson, Beck. He is also survived by his brother, Robert, and a multitude of family and friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lenville and Fleta, and his brother, Leroy.

A private family service with military honors will be held on October 8 at 1:30 PM at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where Roger will be honored for his service to our country. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Roger’s legacy are encouraged to contribute to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
