Paul Lewis Staggs was born June 11th, 1944 in Little Rock, AR and raised in Jacksonville, AR. He served in the military, he was in the Army and was a first class private in the Cold War. He was a rifle specialist and always said he loved being a tank gunner in his division Hell on Wheels. He said his favorite time in life was when he served in the Cold War and got to travel all through Germany. His final years of education he juggled raising two of his children while majoring in psychology. He’s a retired Medical Laboratory Technician at UAMS, he also loved to assist doctors and nurses in the care of newborn babies. He last worked at Leisure Arts. His interests consisted of hiking, camping, hunting, and fishing, he loved the outdoors! He would go early in the morning to go explore in woods around Arkansas to find good spots for hunting, fishing, or just to have a peaceful walk. As his hobbies he collected coins and toy model cars. He loved talking about the new coin or toy car he got recently. He also always sat in his recliner watching his recorded tv shows, like The Andy Griffith Show, Gunsmoke, Hot Bench, 48 Hours, Strange Evidence, 2 Broke Girls, and The Big Bang Theory. He enjoyed football season, that was his favorite sport. He played a linebacker in high school. And can’t forget he loved his 50s music. Elvis Presley, The flamingos, Ricky Nelson, Paul Anka, Joe Jones, Bobby Darin, and many more. In his household he was the one that always took care of the pets, cooked, drove, bought the groceries, took care of bills, and even planned something fun every weekend. He attended Immanuel Baptist Church and had a deep fear of the Lord. He had two children Regina Marie Staggs and Kyle Blaine Staggs. He also raised one of his grandsons Maison Lewis Staggs, brother of Sergio Cortez Staggs, the children of Regina. He was married to Evelyn Leona Staggs. They have been married for over 20 years and they used to do everything together. They were like best friends and they loved each other. His father's name was Abram Bailey Staggs. He was raised up living with his sister Susan Staggs who he lost a couple years ago. He also lived with his brother Abram Staggs Jr., his mother, Dorothy Hill, and step father, Robert Hill who are all laid to rest in the same cemetery Paul will be placed. Paul passed away June 11th, 2022 on his 78th birthday from lung cancer and pneumonia. He fought hard and was a strong man but his suffering is no longer for he is in heaven at eternal peace! A visitation for family and friends of Paul will be held Saturday, June 18, 2022 from 12 PM to 1 PM at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72117. A funeral service will occur Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 1 PM. A committal service with Military Honors will held Saturday, June 18, 2022 following funeral services.
