Lula B. Ricks, 84, of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away on January 3, 2023, in her home. Lula was born March 8, 1938, in Wabbaseka, Arkansas the daughter of the late Frank Burton Sr., and Willie B. “Susie” Burton. Lula was united in marriage on August 25, 1960, to the late Clinton Ricks, Sr., and had two children Lee Esther (Burton) Abernathy and Clinton A. Ricks Jr.

During her early years, she worked in a variety of occupations, Century Food/J. Presley Gourmet Chocolates and Schneider’s Candy Company in Blass Department Store Downtown Little Rock, Arkansas, from 1970-1990. Lula was a simple, and caring homemaker who loved cooking and taking care of her family. She always wanted to make sure everyone was well fed when they came to visit. As you can see from the many pictures, she took pride in her grandchildren and enjoying the things they were partaking in whether it was watching their academic or sports prowess, or just simply posing for random pictures. She also had a passion for watching wrestling from WWE, Raw to G.L.O.W. (Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling) …

Lula leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Lee Abernathy of Jacksonville, Arkansas, her son Clinton A. Ricks Jr., of Sherwood, Arkansas, six grandchildren Tamara P. Abernathy-Greene (Jonathan) of Repton, Alabama, Tanesha R. Abernathy of Atlanta, Georgia, Clinton A. Ricks III of Austin, Texas, Corliss A. Ricks of Little Rock, Arkansas, Dorian Mays of Chicago, Illinois and Jalen A. Ricks of Wichita, Kansas, three brothers Frank Burton Jr. (Nikki), of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Jimmy Burton Sr. (Suzanne), of Little Rock, Arkansas and Billy Burton of North Little Rock, Arkansas, two sisters Laura Young of Little Rock, Arkansas and Rosie Richards (Michael) of Jacksonville, Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Burton Sr., and Willie B. “Susie” Burton, one brother Clemmie Burton, three sisters, Velma Golatt, Bernice Walker, and Bettye Burton-Moreland. Lula will be forever missed and remembered by her daughter, son, 6 grandchildren, three brothers, two sisters and a host of family and friends.

A visitation for Lula will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Griffin-Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72117. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Rest Hills Memorial Park Cemetery, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock, AR 72117.

Lula will be laid to rest in Rest Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum.
