She was born March 6, 1926 in Glen Lyon, Pennsylvania to parents Andrew Harcharek and Frances Trotsky Harcharek. Jean graduated from Newport High School in 1943. She married the love of her life, Clifford Morris on August 11, 1944 at St. Michaels Church in Glen Lyon. Clifford entered the United States Army during WWII. Jean joined the ranks of women serving the war effort on the home front by working in a bullet factory in Virginia. She was honored as “Employee of the Month” in March, 2006. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for many years.
Jean was a “neatnik” with many loves and hobbies – she had a passion for cooking and baking, especially for Thanksgiving and Christmas. She adored candy! Especially dark chocolate and Ribbon Candy. Crafting was a favorite pastime and she also loved to play poker and other card games, playing the quarter casino slots (she was very lucky), hanging out with her sisters and playing bingo. Jean had a green thumb and created beautiful landscaped yards for her family.
Being a mother was her main passion and she was involved in all her girls’ activities, serving as a Girl Scout Leader & Cookie Chairman, helping the schools with fundraisers , helping the girls with their homework and always being at the bus stop to pick them up when it rained or snowed. She enjoyed a very loving and close relationship with her daughters.
