Dorothy Louise Fletcher, 72, the daughter of Robert Fletcher and Neosha Leigh Avery was born October 15, 1943. She received her formal education through the Little Rock school system, graduating from Horace Mann High School, attending both Shorter and Philander Smith Colleges. She completed nursing training and worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at St. Vincent's Infirmary for over 30 years. She enjoyed her professional career working in the pediatric unit with children.
Dorothy accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and later served as a faithful member of Saint Mark Baptist Church in Little Rock Arkansas until God called her home. Because of her profession and serving heart she was a part-time nursery employee at St Mark and lovingly cared for her mother who preceded her in death.
If you knew Dorothy, you knew a few things about her - she loved Depression Glass! She had a discerning eye and could distinguish between the replicate and "real" glass at a glance. Being a member of the Arkansas Glasshoppers, Inc., she made many friends with other collectors while attending club meetings, state and national shows. Dorothy and her mother would have exhibit booths and/or display tables of various collection of hats, shoes, dogs, or salt & pepper shakers, just an array of the "wonders of glass". Dorothy could also bake the world's best pound cake; it was so good she had requests from Arkansas to the West Coast. If you missed tasting her pound cake - you missed a treat!
Dorothy Louise Fletcher departed this life January 12, 2016. She leaves to cherish her memory two sisters Jessie Marie (Robert) Anderson, Azusa CA; Beverly Sue (Herman) Jones, Madison WI; one brother Alexander Wayne Henson, Little Rock AR; four nieces Kolandra Yvonne (Marcus) Carpenter, Steger IL; Candace (Roderick) Stewart, Maumelle AR; Korbi Washington, Little Rock AR; Natasha Renee Herring, Denver CO; two nephews Chancellor Henson, Little Rock AR and Benjamin F. Davis III, Madison, WI; ten great nieces and nephews and a host of depression glass lovers and friends.
