David G Cates

David Gene Cates of North Little Rock, AR went to be with the Lord on January 26, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones. He celebrated being home with his Heavenly Father, wife, many family members and great friends. David was a loving and caring husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, veteran and friend that would go above and beyond to take care of his family and friends.

David was born on January 28, 1936 in England, AR to his loving parents, James and Eunice Cates. He attended England High School where he met the love of his life, Joyce whose parents worked on the same farm as his parents. In 1954, he started his career in the Navy as a deep sea diver where he served his country for 4 years. He farmed for several years with his father-in-law and worked as a mechanic. David then bought his own service station, Forest Heights Service Center, and served his community for over 50 years.

David worked hard and was loved by all. Everyone knew that they could trust him and that he would take care of them. When he retired, he still dedicated his time to helping others. He was known for walking fast and not being still at least not for very long. David was a blessing to all. He will be greatly missed.

He is proceeded in death by his wife, Joyce of 56 years, his parents James and Eunice Cates; daughter, Kelle; grandson, Dustin and other family members and friends. He is survived by his daughters Lynn, Shari (Donna) and Jamye; grandchildren Josh, (Kim) Matthew, Sydney, and great granddaughters Tatum and Everly.

A visitation and funeral will be held for David at Park Hill Baptist Church on Thursday, February 1st. The visitation will be from 9:30 am - 11:00 am with the funeral to follow. 201 E C Ave, North Little Rock, AR 72116. Burial will take place after the funeral at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills. 7724 Landers Rd, North Little Rock, AR 72117.
