Charles E. (Ed) Butcher, Jr. of Sherwood Arkansas was born February 25, 1940 in Houston, Texas, and passed away on May 22, 2014 at his home in Sherwood. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Pauline Butcher, his children Beth Person and husband Scott of Little Rock, Becky Houser-Dyar and husband Tom of Bossier City, Louisiana, Jon Butcher of Little Rock, Bonnie Singer and husband Arden of Wickenburg, Arizona, Bobby Lancaster of Sherwood and Darvin Whitfield of Cabot and grandchildren Chase Riley and wife Lindsey, Sean Riley of Bossier City, Louisiana, Jason Riley of Evans, Colorado, Heather Crim-Johnson and husband Adam of Cabot, Tiffany Crim of Austin and Spencer and Russell Brown of Little Rock. Other survivors include his three brothers Tom Butcher, Ernie Butcher, and Larry Butcher, 6 great grandchildren and a large extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Betty Butcher and daughter, Sheila Crim.
Charles (Ed / Pops) was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather; a kind and gentle man that never met a stranger. Charles loved photography and made it his career, operating professional studios in both Houston and Little Rock. Charles’s hobbies included Ham Radio and creating unique environments using wood, metal, flowers, or whatever he could get his hands on. Charles’s passion however was flying. He received his private pilot’s license at age 22, and for the last year of his life he lived his dream; retired from work, and flew his personal 2 two very cool aircrafts. He spent most every day at North Little Rock Airport enjoying friends and flying his planes.
Visitation will be held Sunday, May 25th from 2:00-4:00 PM at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home 7724 Landers Rd. in North Little Rock with funeral services on Monday, May 26th at 11:00 AM in the funeral home Chapel. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
