Carolyn Sue Nichols, was born to Connor and Margaret Lamm in the town of Sulphur Springs, Texas on July 23, 1938. She passed away May 7, 2024 peacefully at home in North Little Rock, Arkansas at the age of 85. She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Michael Edward Nichols of North Little Rock, Arkansas
Her father was a seismologist for an oil company, so they frequently were sent all over the Mid-West and Southern parts of the United States for work. Carolyn attended 38 different schools in her lifetime but made friends easily.
Carolyn was outgoing, kind, generous, adventurous, witty, considerate, big-hearted, hardworking, honest, a faithful Christian, and sincere. She never met a stranger and kept lifelong friendships with most of the people she met.
She was a member of several organizations over the years including: Arkansas Striper Association (Bass Fishing/RV Camping Club); Arkansas Goldwing Riders Association (Motorcycles); Arkansas Corvette Club; Parent Teacher Organization President (multiple years); Girl Scout Troop Leader (multiple years).
She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, reading novels, cooking homemade meals from scratch, scrapbooking albums of her grandchildren, cheering on her favorite sports teams The Dallas Cowboys and Arkansas Razorbacks, and bargain shopping for fashionable clothing and jewelry.
One of her favorite activities was riding in her yellow Corvette with her husband sightseeing, eating at famous hole in the wall restaurants, viewing local wildlife, and lounging on her houseboat on Lake Ouachita. She was known for her famous homemade fresh peach ice cream, but her favorite dessert was her mother’s old fashioned coconut cake.
She was a 50 plus year member of Levy Baptist Church. She regularly volunteered to work in the church food pantry and floral depts and enjoyed attended Sunday school each week.
Graduated from Rawlins HS in Wyoming 1956; attended JR College in Texas after High school; worked a variety of jobs including being a sales representative for Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company. Up until recently, she and her late husband owned and operated Nichols Properties, LLC a real estate investment business in North Little Rock.
Survivor includes one brother, Connor William Lamm (Yvonne) of Santa Fe, NM; two children; Richard L. Nichols of Sherwood, AR; Susan Nichols Rice (Dustin W. Rice) of Benton, Ark; five granddaughters, Morgan Nichols, Madison Nichols, Avery, Aubrey and Arden Rice.
A visitation will be held Tuesday May 21, 2024 at 5:00 pm at Levy Baptist Church. Funeral Services will follow at 6:00 pm with Bro. Steven Tiner officiating. A private family burial will be held May 22, 2024 at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Memorial Park.
