Ward—Carl (“Bud”) Hadley Fry, 92, of Ward, passed away at his home on July 3, 2023. He was born on May 6, 1931, in Canton, Ohio, the son of Carl I. and Esther Fry. Carl served in the United States Marine Corps prior to a 30-year career at The Timken Company in Canton. He was a lifelong member of the independent Christian Church, both in Ohio and Arkansas. And for over 25 years, he enjoyed working with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, even taking a group to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico in the early 1970s. He was an avid gardener and a devoted Razorback and Ohio State Buckeyes fan.
But Carl would say his greatest accomplishment is his family, whom he loved and cared for. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Jane Best Fry; his son-in-law, Ron Meeks; and three sisters. Survivors include his sister, Nesta (Tom) Speicher, and his three children: David (Katie) Fry, Daniel (Gail) Fry, and Lynn Meeks. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jonathan (Kaylie) Fry, Paul (Ashley) Fry, Andy (Alyse) Fry, Ashley (Matt) Cunningham, Mark (Emily) Fry, and Lauren (Jason) Wald, as well as 15 great-grandchildren.
Carl’s family members wish to express their sincere appreciation to the Hospice Home Care and Home Instead employees who helped with his care during the eve of his life. A private family gathering will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023, at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills in North Little Rock. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Show-Me Christian Youth Home, 24302 Mahin Rd., La Monte, MO 65337.
