On April 6, 2023, around 9:30 in the morning, Bobby P. Kerr, Sr., the dearly loved Patriarch of our Kerr family, stepped from this life and was ushered through the doorway into our Lords presence. He turned 88 back in January. He was blessed to have shared 45 years of his life with the late, Ann Hardin Bush Kerr, who preceded him in death on August 5, 2005, and then he was blessed to have found love again, sharing what would have been 17 years in August, with his surviving spouse, Melba Rice Kerr of Sherwood, AR. He was preceded in death by his father, Norman P. Kerr, and his mother, Clara McLean Kerr of Savannah, Tennessee. He is also preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Cooper, Elizabeth Smith, Letitia Bain, and Geneva Felker.
He is survived by his brother, Billy Kerr and sister, Sue Hopper. He is survived by his 3 sons, Bobby P. Kerr Jr. of Rocheport, Missouri, William Keith Kerr of Cabot Arkansas, and John Scott Kerr of Conway, Arkansas. "Papaw Kerr" leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He is also survived by Melba’s sons, Johnny and Jerry Rice, both of Sherwood, AR.
He had been a member of the First Baptist Church of Sylvan Hills in Sherwood since 1970 and had over 50 years of service as a Deacon and Teacher/small group leader. He was currently serving as a co-teacher for his class at church. He leaves behind many dear friends that will miss their breakfast meetings, fish dinners, and games of Mexican Train and 5 Crowns.
Visitation will be held at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Rd, North Little Rock, AR on Friday, April 14, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service celebrating Bobby’s life will be held at Sylvan Hills First Baptist Church, 9008 Hwy. 107, Sherwood, AR on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
