She was born February 6, 1929 to John Duncan and Lily Mae Yarborough. Birdye was a member of Park Hill Christian Church, active in the Christian Women’s Fellowship, and previously taught in the young children’s department. Formally she worked in billing of Memphis Power and Light Company. She served with her husband in Churches in Kentucky, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Arkansas. In earlier years she enjoyed serving in the institution for the mentally ill in Nashville, Tennessee. She was active in Meals on Wheels and the weekly Food Bank at PHCC. Birdye loved reading, working with her flowers, line dancing, crossword puzzles, playing cards, and dominos. Birdye was an outgoing person, gifted in hospitality, cared about many, and many cared about her. She will be greatly missed. She is preceded in death by, her husband, James Farmer; sister, Jean Askew; and grandson Joshua Farmer.
She is survived by two sons, Dennis (Vicki) Farmer, Danny (Rita) Farmer; one daughter, Delane (Bobby) Goodwin; six grandchildren, Lori Farmer, Sarah Allen, Jon (Miranda) Farmer, Chad (Stephanie) Farmer, Kelli (Ashur) Tolliver, and Anna (Bryan) Smith; and fourteen perfect great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday October 5, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Park Hill Christian Church, North Little Rock, AR.
Funeral Service will be at 2:00 Pm at the church, with Rev. Miles Cook officiating, burial to follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park at 7724 Landers Road, in North Little Rock.
