Billy (Bill) Dean McCallister, 81, of Jacksonville passed away Thursday, August 4th. He was born in Wabbaseka, Arkansas to parents Chester and Thelma McCallister. His step-father, J. C. Spencer, also played an important role in his upbringing. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1955 – 1963 on the USS Shenandoah. After moving to Jacksonville, Bill worked at National Swage Company for over 30 years, working his way up and retiring as Plant Superintendent. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jacksonville. Bill loved the Razorbacks and all things related to computers but his greatest love was his grandchildren. His first three grandchildren, Andee, Mandi and Aubrey were beautiful to him in every way. He was a great storyteller and singer of old songs and spent many hours with granddaughter Olivia, creating stories, singing and making memories. He always cherished his time with Zack fishing and exploring in Zack’s younger years. He treasured his enthusiasm for sports and particularly football with youngest grandson, Trevor.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Merle Green. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 36 years, Pam McCallister, children Sharon Waisner (Earnie), Debbie Erickson, David O’Dell (Kelly) , Gary Heinrich and Roger Heinrich as well as his Grandchildren Andee, Mandi, Aubrey, Zack, Olivia and Trevor.
Bill will be dearly missed and all are thankful that he was a part of their lives.
