Betty Cameron Ketcher

Betty was born December 20, 1923 in Monticello, Arkansas to Allen Morrell Cameron and Mildred Manees Cameron Harville. During the great depression she moved with her family to North Little Rock, Arkansas in 1936 to live with her grandparents, Alma and E.O. Manees. She attended North Little Rock High School and was in the class of 1941. She considered North Little Rock her home but had many ties to her early home town in Monticello.

Though she was a housewife and raised her four sons on Park Hill she led an active life. Her passion was playing bridge which she played regularly with many groups over the years. She spent decades volunteering with Baptist Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

Her fondest memories were summers at Mt. Harbor Resort at Lake Ouachita, football trips to Razorback games on the big hog bus, thoroughbred horse racing at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs. She traveled to China, Japan, Europe, India, South America and it was always first class. Betty loved to cook and entertain and her Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners were legendary. She made her home a beautiful, warm and welcome place for family and friends. Her favorite cocktail was Cuba Libre and she was known as the Queen of cheese dip. Her handmade Christmas stockings for family and friends were beautiful and always had something personal on each one.

Betty loved Park Hill Baptist Church where she was a member over 70 years. She joined in the early years of the church and worked on many church projects, fund campaigns as well as being great friends with many members.

Betty is survived by her sons, Henry Ketcher, III, John Ketcher, and Ken Ketcher; daughter-in-law, Theresa Courtney Ketcher; grandchildren, Hank Ketcher (Tammy), Karen Keathley (Shannon), Katie Litwa (Michael), Page Ketcher, Louise Riley (Stephen), William Ketcher, II, Millie Ketcher, Cameron Ketcher and Richard Ketcher; 10 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Henry Ketcher, Jr., son, William Ketcher, daughter-in-law, Jane Terry Ketcher, brother, Allen Morrell Cameron, and sister-in-law, Sylvia Whalen Cameron.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 13 at 10:00 a.m. at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills, 7724 Landers Rd., North Little Rock, Arkansas followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends will be gathering at her home after the service.
