I went to high school with A.L. and played one sandlot game with him, in fact, he was good enough to pitch curve balls at that time .  He threw a curve ball to me which caused me to back out of the hitter's box.  The pitch was a strike.  My condolences to the family. 

I had a ball from 1968 signed by the entire team (Rochester Red Wings).  I was just a kid when I caught a foul ball and a season ticket holder got the whole team to sign it for me.  Mr. Gatewood was amongst the signatures. His name has always stuck in my mind. It's a great baseball name.  Last year I gave the ball to the Red Wings but I took many pictures of it from every angle.  If you would like the picture with his signature, I would be glad to e-mail it to you. 

Aubrey, you will be missed by many of your teammates, friends, and fans. My deepest condolences goes out to your family. You were one of the Angels that were very Brave when you played, and showed grace on the playing fields of our favorite past time. Please rest in peace, and enjoy playing back in the outfield amongst all the other angels. Your Fan.
