SMALL, Robert J. (Bobby) of Franklin, MA, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2024, with family by his side following a long illness. Born on March 1, 1942, in New York City, NY, Bobby was the son of the late Paul Small and Ida (Steinberg) Small. He was the dear brother to the late Mindy Small and Patty Small.
Bobby graduated from Jamaica High School and pursued his passion for accounting at CW Post University, earning his C.P.A. Masters degree. Bobby loved being a C.P.A. and worked throughout his entire life.
Bobby married Shauna Roslynne (Evans) Small and together, they had one son, Jordan Small. After the passing of his first wife in 1996, Bobby went on to remarry Marjorie (Goldstein Halloway) Small in 1997, at which time Bobby inherited a large family with many stepchildren. Bobby leaves behind several loved ones who will miss him dearly. His brother Lew Small and his wife Dianne of Ocala, FL; his son Jordan Small and significant other Marlo Novak of Ft. Lauderdale; his stepson Mark Halloway and wife Lauren of North Attleboro, MA; his stepdaughter Robin Hansen and husband David of Franklin, MA, his stepson David Halloway and wife Janet of Bellingham, MA, and his stepson Jason Halloway and wife Lisa of Wrentham, MA. He was a cherished, devoted grandfather fondly known as (Papa Bobby) and (Pop-Pop) as he doted on all his grandchildren, including James, Nathan, Rhyan, Christopher, Ariana, Matthew, Landon, Camden, and Shay.
Bobby was a man of many interests and passions. He was known for his generosity, often donating to various charities. His love for animals, especially his dogs, was a constant throughout his life. Bobby enjoyed gambling, particularly playing blackjack, and this hobby brought him many friendships. He was always on the move, finding it hard to sit still. Grocery shopping and cooking were his favorite pastimes, reflecting his love for food and family.
A service to celebrate Bobby’s life will be held on April 18, 2024, at 1:30 pm at the Star of David Funeral Chapel, located at 7701 Bailey Road, North Lauderdale, FL. Following the service, Bobby will be laid to rest at Star of David Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
A reception will be held at CJ Black’s, 11300 West State Road 84, Davie, FL 33325, immediately after the burial. A celebration of life will be held in Massachusetts at a later date.
