Education Russell Sage College, Troy New York, February 1958 Bachelor of Science Degree.
Teacher, Elementary School, White Plains, New York
A self-taught artist, Paulette began her formal training in cloisonné and silver-smithing at the studio of Kulick & Stark, New York. From that she turned to crystal, using pieces of exquisite, antique chandeliers, and then to semi-precious stones and talismans from the legendary trade routes of East India.
Later, following an extended stay in Israel, absorbing the flavor and color of Israeli arts and crafts, she became the only American represented at Bloomingdale’s major storewide exhibition, “Israel: The Dream”.
Since then, just when her customers seem to think they’ve seen all Paulette can create; she breaks ground in a totally different and unexpected way. Her later work has included exotic sea shells; crystal nuggets and large, exotic-sounding semi-precious stones like rainbow jasper, crazy lace agate and; now a striking departure into cameos on shell, blue and black onyx, and other semi-precious materials, and an exploration of different corals nature has created, such as tiger and orange.
For discriminating buyers – those who appreciate the quality of intricate craftsmanship, with a devotion to color and style and ingenuity, Paulette Howard’s work has always been a hallmark… truly distinguished art you can hang…around your neck!
Best known for the dynamic elegance, charm and style of blending Oriental Netsuke’s with semi-precious stones, Paulette has branched out in a myriad of new directions and attitudes.
The results are ever-new, attention-grabbing designs that cover the full range of price and style, from costume, through bridge, into fine jewelry.
Paulette’s work has gained broad consumer and media attention from showings at prominent stores like, Nordstrom, Neiman-Marcus, Bloomingdale’s, Lord & Taylor, Henri Bendel, Liberty House, Golden Nugget and Bally’s, Macy’s, Mirage (Las Vegas), Metropolitan Opera House Gift Shop, Fortunoff’s, Smithsonian Holiday Catalog, Morikami Museum Gift Shop, Norton Museum Gift Shop, Naples Museum of Art Gift Shop, Philharmonic Center for the Arts and American Museum of Natural History.
