Lawrence E. Correia, 80, of Coconut Creek, Florida, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024. Born on May 11, 1943, in New Bedford, Massachusetts, the son of the late Edward F. Correia and Mary A. (Francis) Correia, Larry's life was one dedicated to service, education, and a passion for learning.
Larry was a proud veteran who honorably served his country in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968 during the Vietnam War. His commitment to duty and honor defined not only his military service but also his approach to life.
After his military service, Larry pursued his passion for education, becoming an esteemed educator across a wide range of age groups, from elementary students to college scholars. His dedication to shaping young minds left an indelible mark on the many students who were fortunate enough to have him as a teacher.
Larry was a scholar at heart, earning three bachelor's degrees and a master's degree over the course of his academic journey. His thirst for knowledge was insatiable, and he was a true intellectual who loved nothing more than engaging in discussions about history, movies, and the wide array of cuisines he delighted in experiencing through his extensive travels throughout the world.
Above all, Larry cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife Lynn Correia; son Lawrence Correia; siblings Steven Correia, Teresa Saab, Eileen Cassidy, Daniel Correia, Dennis Correia, Maureen Ashworth, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews; stepson David Levin and step grandchildren Savannah and Sydney Levin. He is predeceased by his beloved late wife Barbara, his sister Kathleen Campbell, and his late brother Edward Correia.
Larry's memory will be forever treasured by his family, friends, and the countless lives he touched.
Funeral and committal services will be held on Monday, April 15th at Star of David Memorial Gardens Cemetery and Funeral Chapel in North Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Larry's legacy of service, intellect, and love will continue to inspire all who knew him. May he rest in peace in the Lord’s Kingdom, forever remembered and dearly missed.
