Joan Croland, age 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on April 19, 2023 in Charlotte, NC. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on December 21, 1941, daughter of the late Julius I. Anolick and Betty (Levy) Anolick. She was a graduate of Jamaica High School in Queens, New York. Joan is predeceased by her loving sisters; Carole Scheinman and Letty Steinberg. She is survived by her three children: David (Adriana); James (Sandra “Sam”); and Denise (Adam), and seven grandchildren: Rachel, Adrian, Jake, Michael, Sidney, Nicholas, and Dominic.
Joan married Jerry Croland in June 1961 and had three children. They raised their family in Elmont, N.Y. before relocating to Coral Springs, Florida in 1980. Joan was a devoted mother to David, Jamie and Denise, and a proud grandmother to her seven beautiful grandchildren.
Joan enjoyed a fulfilling 22 year career working for Federated Department Stores at Burdines where she quickly climbed the corporate ladder in to management. Her colleagues and employees respected and admired her, and she made many lifelong friends during her time at the store. Joan was always a supportive and strong leader.
In her spare time Joan loved to shop with her daughter Denise and lounge by the pool on weekends. She also loved spending time with friends and her kids at Christopher’s, Shooters, and various other establishments back in the day. She was always ready for a fun time with a huge smile on her face.
After retiring, she relocated to Charlotte, N.C. to be near her son David, for whom she worked for many years. When she wasn’t working, she loved to travel. She went on many adventures with her friends and travelled to see her children and grandchildren.
Joan was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was loved by all and will be missed.
