Hi Fred.  

I saw you on MSNBC tonight, and that terrible Valentine’s Day played in my mind all over again.  I am a Canadian from Toronto, and my husband and I spend January to May in Hallandale Beach each year.  We made the drive late at night to your daughter’s school a few days after the shooting.  We were there to pay our respects, and try to  make some sense of it in our minds, which was impossible.  The whole neighbourhood was pitch black, including the school, with 4 police cars, lights flashing, silently parked at each corner of the main intersection.  The corner near the school sign was filled with masses of flowers, and lit candles.  The candles were the only light besides the police cars.  I felt such a heaviness in my heart.  It did not seem real, or possible.

The whole scene was so eerie, and really underscored the pain and horror that the victims’ families must have been feeling, and surely still are.  Although there have been so very many mass shootings, for some reason, I think of this one often.

I saw the large photo of your daughter over your shoulder while you spoke to Stephanie tonight.  As a fan of dance myself, I took note of your daughter’s perfect body positioning as she flew through the air.  She must have been enormously talented.

As a Canadian, I cannot imagine living with the ever present threat of gun violence.  I am so glad our laws are different.  Our greatest mass shooting happened in Montreal on December 6, 1989.  Although that was almost exactly 35 years ago, nothing like it has happened since.  Sadly, America deals with such an event very frequently.

I truly hope that Kamala Harris wins next week, and goes on to further the battle against gun violence.  I thank you for the work you have done; you deserve a good rest.

To the guttenberg family,I have never met you nor did I ever meet Jaime...However I was like most people very touched by this and had to express my condolences to you..Please excuse the fact that its been over a year since I am dealing with health issues and only now feeling well enough to write..I lost my sister in 1985 at 21 years old to a drunk driver while she was attending  fsu in Tallahassee..Like your family it was very difficult to deal with a loss of a child with so many years in front of them.At first we didn't think we could move forward we were distraught with grief...But as time went on things got a little better just as it probably has for you....time really does heal all wounds....you will never forget,just as we haven't but the pain will diminish..People who tell you that I know what your going through or went through who actually never went through what your family or ours has experienced mean well but a person who has experienced what you have takes on a whole different meaning....god bless,take care....steven hall....

Oh Jamie , I'm 15 years , you 14. We are also born in Julie. And I dance too! We are just so close! This , what happened , affected me alot. I'm always checking everything about you. You was such a special girl , beautiful girl , sweet girl. The guns are not going to make the world down because we are going to fight against it!!!! Jamie , you don't died because you are in the heart of everyone. Is the only thing I can think to not be sad. 

I can't imagine this because my family , my friends lives in Florida. If I was in that school it can easily be me! I'm never going to forget this, never! I saw this terrible massacre and I cry, I cry alot because I am a student. I go everyday to school. We are supposed to be safe. And I just don't believe that school is now not a safe place for us. My name is Sue Holleger and I live in Milford, Delaware.
I have been a daycare provider and a preschool teacher as well as a Mom.
Children have been my life just like yours.
I also work one summer at The Music School of Delaware in our small town of Milford.
I had the pleasure of meeting several young dancers from a local dance studio.
Watching these young girls do amazing things together was just breath taking and a blessing.
I know there were many other victims at the school Jaime and your son attended but Jaime has really touched my soul.
I do not know the pain you are feeling and I know you want your sweet baby girl back every second and every minute of the day.
My neice and nephew lost their 4 year old daughter several years ago in a tragic accident the day after Kaitlyn's 4th birthday 4 days before Christmas.
Visiting my niece at her home one day Denise had found a printed paper online of  several comments to please "not" say to her regarding Kaitlyn's death when her death had just occured. Some of them I had found myself saying to people after a loss and people mean well but they truly do not help how you and your family are feeling.
I know people mean well and love you.
I know that I love children and I know that you and your husband and Jaime's brother all loved Jaime so very much.
I know your hearts are just breaking.
I am so glad that you and Mr. Guttenberg have your faith and family for support.
Please know that your loss has effected me so in my heart and I am sure many many others around the country and the world feel the same way.
Please know if I could meet you and you allowed me to I would hug you so tight.
Your Jaime, Your Valentine, is just precious. Try and look at pictures of Jaime a little in time that you can in happy times.
My Mom went through a difficult time when we lost my Dad to pancreatic cancer 8 years ago.
The pain you and your husband and sweet son are feeling is a pain you only know when for some unknown reason you have to bare it.

So sorry for your loss. This is an unbearable tragedy that no parent should have to face, but sadly is becoming all to common in our society. Please know prayers are with your family for healing. We were given names of victims to read aloud in church yesterday, and I had Jaime's. I wanted to say something, though words don't help much at a time like this.

My wife and I were at Jamies memorial service today. Freds impassioned remarks were chilling. Our son was lucky to escape harm that day, but he could have easily been killed too.
