Ivy May Smith was born on December 11th, 1932 in Spanish Town Jamaica to parents Zerish Mckenzie and Hezekiah Smith (deceased). She had two brothers Francis and Winston both deceased. She passed away on December 3rd, 2024 at North Shore University Hospital Manhasset, New York. She is survived by five children Valerie (John) Church, Loreen Malcolm, George Malcolm, Michael Malcolm, and Clifford Jackson, and countless grand, great-grand, great great children, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She migrated from Jamaica to Washington DC in the early 60’s. She worked in the Washington Hospital Center in the Housekeeping Department and was promoted to Unit Secretary from the early ’60s until she retired in 2000. She relocated and purchased a Condo in Tamarac, Florida where she lived until 2018. She then moved to Long Island, New York, and remained there until December 3rd, 2024 when she passed away in the presence of her children.
She attended First Church West Pastor Norman Wise in Tamarac, Florida where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior.
She made many sacrifices to bring all her children to America for a better life. She was well-loved and will be missed by all her family and friends
