Fred was born in Brooklyn, New York to Harry and Ann Schopp on September 6, 1930. He married his first love, Frances Schopp-Michaels on July 19, 1958 in Flushing, New York and spent 58 wonderful years together prior to her untimely death. Fred grew up in Brooklyn and Bayside and was educated at Champlain College with an MBA from Hofstra University. He worked at American Express for over 30 years until his retirement. He was involved in Ramat Shalom and Knight of Pythias. Fran and Fred’s commitment to volunteerism and their love of the arts lead them to Broward County Performing Arts where they selflessly ushered thousands of shows for over 25 years.
Fred is preceded in death by his wife Frances Mildred Schopp and his grandson Dylan Andrew Schopp whom he has joined in heaven.
Fred will be remembered most for his spirit and devotion to his family and grandchildren and is survived by his daughter, Randi and son-in-law Scott, son David and wife Debbie, granddaughter Dara and husband Jeffrey, granddaughter Morgan, brother Lawrence, sister-in-law Barbara and brother-in-law Mark and wife Kathy
A private family service will be held to celebrate his life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Dylan Schopp Sunshine Foundation.
