The first time I saw Diana she was lying in the sun, on the sidewalk, smoking a cigarette. I made a joke that she was in my smoking spot and we immediately became friends. She struggled but she always tried to make other people happy. Even when she didn’t have a lot of money, she’d offer to buy me lunch. She’d even pick me up from school when I didn’t have a car. She’s introduced me to beautiful music, and a true appreciation for the world around us. We’d lie on the same sidewalk at night and wonder about life. She was afraid of alien abduction. We’d go to Whole Foods a lot and she’d smile at everyone. She wanted to engage everyone. It was actually pretty funny how persistent she was for people to be kind. Not many people have a heart like she did. She made me a frame of the two of us outside a food truck for a holiday. We’d go around taking photos all the time. She danced in the street. She was my adventure. She loved driving and we’d aimlessly go places. Mostly to the Fresh Market, she loved candy. We exchanged books, clothes, photos but I got the most important thing which was an amazing friend. She was resilient in her battle, and I tried the best I could to hold her when she was distraught. She told me I gave the best hugs. She wasn’t afraid of dying, which we talked about pretty frequently. There’s a comfort in that knowing that she’s gone. She’s not suffering. She left behind nothing but beauty. I will forever cherish our laughs and our tears and our struggles because she didn’t lose a battle, in my eyes. She fought for so long. She was a fighter. The last conversation we had, we spoke about change. We talked about me going to visit her in Tampa. I wish with all my heart that she was still here, but I know that she’s listening to Cream on Chrome soaking in the sun, being part of the universe that she found so much wonder in.

Diana was such a beautiful and stunning young woman.  Wishing her family comfort in their memories. Rest in peace Diana.

Today was a tough day.
As today turns into tomorrow, and tomorrow into next week I ask of only one thing of us all; love & positivty.

The Awad family has to be one of the most selfless loving bunch I’ve ever known. 
Facing trial and tribulation just like the rest of us, but never allowing for such pain to manifest into hate and anger.

Diana was a beautiful soul, a soul that taught me, through your darkest times you can still shine the brightest. Step up to the wicked evils of this world and combat it with nothing but pure positive energy.

All that  any of us ever needed was a soft, gentle touch. Remember what Diana stood for, remember what her family stands for.  
Keep love in your hearts.
I pray for us all.

Diana and I spent a good portion of high school and our early twenties together getting into all sorts of mischief ❤️ We took many road trips together,  took a lot of selfies together, and shared a lot of secrets. I will miss her dearly and wish I could have spent more time with her in her last few years. My favorite memory is the time we took a cab (pre-Uber era) to the W hotel in Miami- when we got there we both realized we forgot our wallets...we just ran out of the cab all the way through the hotel down to the ocean- we were sure we were going to get arrested and spent so many nights after that experience feeling so guilty for not paying the cab driver for the ride. Years later it would be something we would laugh at together. It’s precious memories such as this one that leave me with a broken heart hearing about Diana’s passing. Diana, you were a riot, as much as you were stunning! I love you ❤️

I loved loved Diana,I use to call her Princess Diana. She had a beautiful heart and loved everyone equally. I will miss her. R.I.P PRINCESS. Xo love Nancy
